ALONE VS LONELY

– Adjetivo / Adverbio. Significa “solo” (sin compañía).

EXAMPLE:

· A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.
· Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.

– Adjetivo. Significa “solo” pero con el sentido de “soledad” y va asociado a infelicidad.
– No se utiliza como adverbio.
 *I prefer going to dinner alone. Not I prefer going to dinner lonely.

EXAMPLE:
· He says he feels very lonely and depressed living in that old house.
· When everything is lonely I can be my best friend.
